On Friday 28th March 2025, a legendary time was had. Over 120 Movember fundraisers, official partners, friends and ambassadors came together in Dublin to celebrate the achievements of the impressively active Mo community in 2024.
Movember Ireland raised an astounding €3 million to fuel vital programmes in men’s health. The Mo Awards allows us to recognise some of the standout supporters from the thousands of fundraisers who signed up in 2024, who went above and beyond for the cause.
The venue was filled with legends who ran hundreds of kilometres, grew spectacular Mo's, hosted epic events and those who poured their hearts and souls into raising lifesaving awareness for the cause.
A panel of judges deliberated over a strong field of nominees to pick out winners for 15 categories of awards. Every single person who supports men's health is already a champion of change, but the 15 we chose to call out on the joyous evening were...
Drum roll... winners
- TOP INDIVIDUAL- EDWARD DOUGLAS: This year’s individual leaderboard was topped by a first time Movember supporter. Following his own prostate cancer diagnosis, he, along with his team: The Croiméal Bros, wanted to raise awareness and raise some money along the way. Their moustaches of various shapes and sizes encouraged funny stares as well as conversations around men's mental health. Epic Edward.
- TOP OVERALL TEAM + MOVEMBER BUSINESS CLUB + THE CONSTRUCTION CHALLENGE - MERCURY ENGINEERING: Winning a whopping hat trick of awards, Mercury Engineering has shown outstanding dedication, commitment and generosity throughout the campaign. The team took part for the first time in 2023, led by their captain Meabh. Over the years they've undertaken multiple challenges and tasks - this year, one team member even drove multiple times from Mayo to Dublin to cook a fry for their team during Movember.
- THE SCHOOL CHALLENGE - SCOIL PÓL: Beating their target, the humble Limerick school encouraged staff members and students alike to grow what ever they could. From the small ones to the wispy ones, every hair showed they care. Well done Scoil Pól - a true team effort.
- THE BIG MOUSTACHE ON CAMPUS - TRINITY COLLEGE CAMPUS: This college has supported Movember for many years, but this year they made it even bigger. With over 30 societies and teams registered to take part, barely a day went by without some kind of Movember activity on campus. They dipped at Seapoint, raced to Poland, and hosted an inaugural Movember Ball. We're inspired by your creativity!
- THE SPORT AND FITNESS CHALLENGE - MO FOR MURPH: This team came together to honour their friend, John Murphy. The Glenstall Abbey class of 2015 connected from all over the globe and moved in honour of their friend - each in their own way. A heartwarming coming together of community.
- THE DUBLIN MARATHON TOP FUNDRAISER - MARCUS OBERNIK: This year we had 60 runners, all with their unique story, take part in the Dublin Marathon for Movember. From first-time runners to pros, it was hugely inspiring watching the group support each other along the journey and smash race day. Marcus Obernik was part of this team, and demonstrated true leadership qualities. Thank you Marcus.
- THE GROW AWARD - EOIN BARRETT: Eoin's dedication to Movember over the past five years has been truly inspiring. He organised - wait for it - 14 events in his workplace, Pfizer, creating opportunities for his colleagues to get involved. From informative health talks and inspirational speakers to convenient online healthcare appointments and even moments of quiet reflection through meditation, he offered something for everyone. Eoin made some serious noise by organising a powerful “moment against silence” setting off the alarms onsite. Not only this but Eoin’s hairy upper lip serves as a constant reminder of the cause. Go Eoin.
- ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - ARDSCOIL RÍS: Ardscoil made an unforgettable Movember debut, rallying their entire school behind the cause. Students and staff grew all sorts of dodgy moustaches sparking important conversations around mental health. Beyond the fuzz, they hosted a Blue Day where the school proudly wore blue as a nod to men’s health. It wasn’t just about the fundraising, teachers incorporated Movember’s lesson plans into SPHE and RSE, ensuring men’s health remains a priority long after the moustaches are gone. A phenomenal first year - welcome aboard the Mo Train, Ardscoil.
- THE MOVE AWARD - THERESA ROCCA: Theresa has been a loyal Movember supporter for years, supporting her family and friends in Team Bernard, an inspiring team honouring Bernard Rocca. This year, she took on a challenge of her own: walking 300km throughout the month. Rain or shine, Theresa clocked an impressive 10km daily, supported by her community and her beautiful four-legged friends. Her fundraising total skyrocketed, propelling her into the top 10 individual fundraisers in Ireland. With every step, she demonstrated what it means to go the distance. Theresa, you are a true inspiration to all of us at Movember HQ.
- THE HOST AWARD - FFS GYM: FFS Gym is known for its supportive atmosphere and community centric gyms and their involvement in Movember was no different. The team went all in for men’s health, uniting their community for an epic challenge lifting one million kilograms in a single event and beating the Guinness Book of World Records. Every rep raised awareness and showcased the power of teamwork. Their dedication and energy created an electric atmosphere, proving that strength is more than muscles, it’s about lifting each other up. You should be proud.
- MO YOUR OWN WAY - MTU ANIME AND MANGA: The Munster Technological University Anime and Manga Society took Movember to the next level with their creative, goal-smashing fundraiser. Throughout the month, there were mascots rocking moustaches, pies to the face and waxing hair off different parts of their body - we know, daring. Fair play to all involved in the MTU Anime and Manga society for bringing together the perfect mix of fun, fundraising, and creativity.
- THE MOVEMBER AHEAD OF THE GAME AWARD - STEPHEN CAULFIELD: Stephen has been a passionate Mo Bro since 2009, but this year he took it to a whole new level. From running the Dublin marathon (and two half marathons) to championing Movember at IBM, he led an action-packed campaign. He shouted about Movember on LinkedIn almost daily, ensuring the message reached far and wide. Stephen even got the IBM Movember campaign on the agenda for their Country General Manager’s inaugural meeting. Wrapping the month on a high point, Stephen shared his personal motivation for taking part in Movember with his colleagues and hosted a Shave Down for his team. You're a legend, Stephen.
- SERVICES TO THE MO - CLYDE CARROLL, KEITH WILSON, JONNY FORBES and SE McCORMACK: This award goes to those who have shown ultimate dedication to the Mo through years of support. From frontline service Mo Bros to marketing pros. Their passion to encourage proactive action around healthier men and healthier communities inspires our team year-on-year. There are so many examples of their legendary activities: An annual emergency services open day, inviting members of the community to interact and experience what it's like to be a frontline worker; running a marathon in full services uniform; walking from Bray Head to Howth (40km) in full services uniform (see a theme here?). Most importantly, sharing their personal stories with the wider community, encouraging more people to talk about how they're feeling, and know vulnerability is a super power. It was an honour to award them as true Mo legends. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
A night to remember
The night was a true Movember celebration, with much fun and many conversations had. We were laughing. We were crying. We were honoured.
To everyone who attended, and the wider Mo community: we thank you all from the bottom of our hairy hearts. Every person who took part in the Movember 2024 campaign should feel incredibly proud of their contribution to men’s health. You are the heroes of change.
