My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

In October I’ll be running in the Dublin Marathon to raise funds to support men’s mental health and suicide prevention. Globally the rate of male suicide is alarmingly high with 6 out every 10 suicides being men. Pre Covid on average a man died of suicide every minute of every day, that equated to over 510,000 in a 12 month period. Post Covid that has increased to over 700,000 with this figure expected to increase year on year. This figure only includes death from suicide but does not include attempts so the figure could so much higher.

Over the past number of years I myself have suffered from mental health issues something I thought that would never affect me. I had many moments where I thought it would be easier to not be here anymore. Luckily I came through that dark period but even today I still have many low days.

The key for me was and is exercise and this is why I’ve chosen to run in this years Dublin marathon to raise funds. So please donate and help me help other men. I’m aiming to raise just €1500 but would love to raise as much as possible. Donations, of any size would be amazing and greatly appreciated.

I’ll leave you with this… they say men need to talk more but it’s no good talking if no one is there to listen to you. If a male friend or family member has the courage to speak to you, to ask for your help please listen and please follow up the next day and the next and the next. There’s no point in speaking if it falls of deaf ears.
