The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

On Sunday 21 May 2023, thousands of dapper gentlefolk will ride their classic and vintage style motorcycles to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research.

Riding for men's health

Since 2012, The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride has connected a global community of health-focused motorcyclists in over 1,000 cities, raising over AUD $50 million for men's health.

Movember is proud to be the official charity partner of the ride. As our partnership enters its eighth year, we remain steadfast in our mission to bring riders together to celebrate social connections and raise awareness for men's mental health and prostate cancer.

How it all started

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in 2012 by Mark Hawwa in Sydney, Australia, using the dapper theme to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles, whilst connecting niche motorcycle communities together.

That first ride brought together over 2,500 riders across 64 cities, with the success of the event encouraging Mark to consider how it could be used to support a worthy cause. The rest, as they say, is history.

A match made in heaven

Movember has been the official charity partner of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride since 2016. Both organisations share one simple common goal: to bring people together and raise awareness of men's health.

2023 marks our eighth year riding together. During that time, funds raised by The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride have led to life-changing research in prostate cancer and life-saving mental health and suicide prevention programs.

Where the money goes

Veterans and First Responders Mental Health Grants

There is growing evidence that firefighters, paramedics, police officers and military veterans are at increased risk of poor mental health and suicide.

The Veterans and First Responders Mental Health Program is funding projects that aim to improve the mental wellbeing of veterans, first responders and their families.

Prostate cancer registries

There are big gaps in prostate cancer care – the reality is that who you are and where you live dictates the quality of care you receive.

Clinical quality registries gather detailed information about how a man is faring during and after his treatment, allowing clinicians to see how their patients compare with best practice around the world.

DGR Social Connections Challenge

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride Social Connections Challenge is testing new ideas from the DGR community with the goal of bringing motorcycle riders together to improve their wellbeing and, ultimately, help them build stronger and more meaningful connections.

Ride with us

We have achieved a whole lot together, but there’s still plenty more we can do. Registrations are now open for this year's ride on 21 May 2023.
