In light of an article published in the Sunday Business Post, dated 08.06.14 we have detailed below the facts on how Movember raises and spends funds as they were supplied to the newspaper but not detailed in the article. As a result we feel that the article did not accurately represent how funds are allocated. Movember is incredibly proud of its low fundraising ratio which we work hard to achieve, as in reality the Irish Movember campaign’s fundraising costs are 6% not 23% as stated. We believe this ratio demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that maximum funds are directly invested in men’s health programmes across Ireland and the world.

The figures provided by Movember to the Sunday Business Post were as follows:

In 2013 Movember Raised 2,2150,00 Euro in Ireland. All funds raised through the Movember campaign were then deposited in the bank account of the Irish Cancer Society, as this is the most cost-effective funding model for Movember in Ireland.

The ICS then reimburses Movember for the cost of running the fundraising campaign and the cost of Movember’s Awareness & Education programme in Ireland.

This equates to 23% of funds raised. Breaking down this percentage:
·      16.3% of funds raised goes on the Movember Awareness & Education programme
·      6% of funds raised on Movember’s fundraising campaign expenses (e.g. IT, marketing, web design, deliveries/post, campaign collateral, marketing of programmes, legal costs, salary).
·      1.39% of funds raised on credit card merchant fees.

The Global Action Plan for prostate cancer research is administered by The Movember Foundation’s Programmes team, so the Irish Cancer Society provides Movember with the GAP funds, and the Movember Foundation then directly funds collaborative research programmes that Irish and global researchers participate in under the GAP initiative.

We trust the above answers any questions. Movember's work in partnership with the ICS is making the largest contribution to men’s health funding in Ireland.

We are hugely grateful to you, our most valued Mo Bros, Mo Sista’s, stakeholders and partners for your incredible hard work and commitment to Movember.
