My motivation

Mental health and suicide prevention

Mental health has always been something that means a lot to me. I believe that surrounding yourself with good friends and company is so so important. Fortunately, Im lucky to have a strong collection of friends that l love very much. I know they’re there for me when I need someone to talk to and I am there for them as well.

As long as I could grow facial hair I have grown a mustache for Movember. It was always my small way of showing my support for men’s mental health. This year is different for me however. In previous years I was lucky to be someone who never had to expierance loss of a close one due to mental health struggles.

Things changed earlier this year when one of my best mates Rian lost his battle with mental health.

Rian was always a massive advocate for mental health and speaking out in times of need, and he was always the first person to lend an ear to anyone who needed it.

This Movember I want to honor my friend by keeping his voice alive, and advocating for everyone to speak out in times of need and to check in on their mates, you never truly know what’s going on in someone’s life. One chat, a text or a call can make all the difference in someone’s life.

In the words of my good friend Rian “sometimes people arnt okay, and that’s completely okay, everybody had there battles, and sometimes the people that are carrying the most weight have the biggest smile, and sometimes all it takes to help is, “are you okay” or “how are you getting on”, sometimes even those who seem happiest need a shoulder to cry on and it doesn't make them any less of a man, it only takes a bit of time to check on your friends and it can make all the difference.”❤️
